SITUATION:

Stony Brook University, ranked among the top one percent of all universities in the world, has a large and diverse alumni base that dates back half a century. The school has recently undergone a dramatic trajectory of growth in their academic and sports programs, which has elevated its prestige nationally and reinvigorated current students and recent graduates. This established and leading Long Island-based research university reached out to The EGC Group for rebranding services to ensure that their Association is relevant to two distinctive markets – recent graduates and customary members, “first and second” generation grads.

ACTION:

EGC was tasked with developing a new tagline and positioning statement for the Stony Brook University alumni association that would resonate with and motivate alumni, and extend the positioning to a visual representation and campaign that could be used in a variety of ways, including an on campus bus wrap.

THE FINISH LINE:

EGC developed the line “Seawolves for Life”, which leverages the sports team name, Seawolves, and combines it with the longevity necessary to keep students engaged with the University after graduation. The graphic representation incorporates a graduation cap tassle. It is being embraced by the University, and has become the theme of all alumni association marketing materials.
